Ask your MP to back our campaign to improve endometriosis diagnosis and care

Please write to your MP to ask them to back our campaign to improve endometriosis care by signing the Early Day Motion on updating the NICE Guideline on Endometriosis

Endometriosis UK wants NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) to review and update its Guideline NG 73 on Endometriosis Diagnosis and Management.

NICE is the public body responsible for developing guidance for doctors and other healthcare practitioners on matters of health and public health, as well as standards of care for healthcare providers like hospitals to follow.

The Guideline was published in 2017 and while it sets a baseline for endometriosis care, there are notable gaps including access to pain management, endometriosis outside the pelvic cavity such as thoracic endometriosis, and mental health support.

In February 2022, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) issued a new guideline on endometriosis based on a review of new research and evidence, fully replacing its 2014 guideline. It is therefore very timely to ask NICE to review and update the Guideline including research and evidence that was published after 2017.

The EDM on updating the NICE Guideline is backed by Hannah Bardell MP and Emma Hardy MP, the Joint Chairs of the APPG on Endometriosis. By asking your MP to sign the EDM, we can show our campaign has the backing of the UK parliament and put pressure on NICE and the UK Government to make sure this happens. Updating NICE Guideline NG73 is an opportunity to improve care and support for those with endometriosis.

If you did not already do so, please write to your MP today to ask them to back our campaign to update the NICE Guideline on endometriosis.
