Take action to reduce diagnosis time for endometriosis

People with endometriosis deserve better. It currently takes a shocking 8 years on average to get diagnosed with endometriosis – a statistic that hasn’t changed in a decade. Action is needed by the UK government now to reduce diagnosis times so that everyone with endometriosis has access to the right support at the right time. The Covid-19 pandemic has led to longer waiting times for gynaecology appointments including for those with suspected endometriosis, which can further delay diagnosis. Action is needed now more than ever.

We are asking the UK government to take steps towards reducing diagnosis times so that everyone with endometriosis has access to the right support at the right time. You can help us with this by writing to your MP to ask them to support this campaign.

Our work with devolved administrations

Following recent Welsh Senedd elections, there is a new Health Minister in Wales. Endometriosis UK will be getting in touch with the new Minister shortly to raise improvements needed in endometriosis diagnosis and care in  Wales.

We also work with MLA’s in Northern Ireland about improving endometriosis diagnosis and care and further activities in the province are currently being planned.

The Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has already made a commitment to reducing diagnosis time in Scotland and Endometriosis UK will be following this up with the Scottish government.
